Friday @ Saratoga

Race 3 - TAKE CHARGE BRANDI (#5) didn't appear to take a deep breath in her short debut. My hope is that she was leaving some gas in the tank for this test. I like that outside post post position. If she's good enough to run with this bunch, she'll be able to see what's going on to her inside at crunch time. I'll be looking to upset Team Pletcher's stakes winning filly, FASHION ALERT (#4)
Gained an early lead as FASHION ALERT broke in a tangle' battled that chalky favorite boldly until fading late; 2nd by a length and a half

Early in a meet I often look for horses with a "horse for course" angle. In today's seventh race, TIZ SARDONIC JOE (#3) sports two wins in three tries at the Spa along with a 5-2-0-1 record at the one mile distance. KISS ME LOLA (#4) shows up in the eighth. She broke her maiden and lost her other 2013 attempt here last year by a neck.
TIZ SARDONIC JOE threw a shoe warming up, then just missed trying to catch a throttled down front runner (he was technically scratched; running for purse money only).
KISS ME LOLA ran in midpack until find room in the stretch then closed very willing on the front running winner along grass that was VERY friendly to speed today; 2nd by a length.
