Race 2 - CEASE (#1 POE) looks to be a "horse for the course" and distance lock here. If he scratches, it seems that Jacobson has scanned the field and decided that GROOMEDFVICTORY (#1A) can complete the task.
CEASE scratched. GROOMEDFORVICTORY sat off the hip of the leader into the stretch then tired badly; off the board.
Race 10 - STOPCHARGINGMARIA (#1) is my tepid selection in the Coaching Club American Stakes. She has won at Saratoga and at today's distance. Her owner is a New York guy who likes his horses ready for the Saratoga meet. Yet, I'm not getting exciting vibes from her performances this spring. Strong arguments can be made for UNBRIDLED FOREVER, AMERICA and TAKETHEODDS. Piecing together a play here will be interesting.
I bought a win ticket and keyed STOPCHARGINGMARIA in an exacta with the others mentioned. She ran a delightful race, powering off in the stretch to win convincingly. UNBRIDLED FOREVER was second.
